Goal
--> NSCC: Develop Consultant Orientation Training

Reflection - I propose to develop and launch an orientation training course for new curriculum consultants, based on a combination of related CCEDP materials, Curriculum Unit materials, and competencies to be collected during the next Curriculum Retreat.

Target Date: 3/31/2010

Resources: Strengths: Maximizer, Ideation, Activator, Command
NS1016 Materials
Other CCEDP Materials (Designing Courses, Adult Learning Theory)
Curriculum Unit - especially those who have facilitated program and course design from scratch
Significant experience in course design (in four colleges)
Instructional design training (Undergraduate and Masters)

Challenges: Time - like any good program or course design, the more time you have the better the result will be. If the activity described below is not given suitable time, it will not have the quality or the buy-in from those who must support it.
There is competition for time on all Curriculum Unit agendas, so negotiating suitable time for this exercise is critical to success.

Action Plan: Collect existing materials and organize into classification.
Involve 2 or 3 experienced consultants and facilitators in preparing the main activity.
Prepare workshop ideas and activities.
Negotiate suitable time for activity
Main Activity (CU Retreat 2009):
Conduct a facilitation workshop on developing a course/program by eliciting competencies, issues, knowledge, outcomes from the group.
Organize outcomes into "modules".
Verify modules and flesh out to include objectives
Define assessment tasks
Define, agree on, or develop teaching and learning activities
Validate the course outline
Post activity:
Flesh out course outline to include teaching and learning strategies, reference materials, activities, assessments
Create course in TLM and invite audit
Deploy and facilitate course to new consultants.
