Reflection - My work as project manager and project coordinator in the corporate world borrows off the same skill set and strengths as those in academic realms, but most often with different kinds of objectives. For-profit organizations put a little more emphasis on bottom-line meaning improvement of earnings, cots recovery and cost minimization. The type of projects tend to be more often directed towards those goals and improved productivity, rather than innovation and organizational growth. In addition, the project manager in corporate settings is provided a slightly different level of autonomy and expected to sometimes make executive calls without a high level of consultation at times.
