Collaboration --> Program Review and Renewal Process
Organization/Context: NSCC ASPC
Reflection - In 2006 I was asked to lead an initiative to develop a process for Academic Review and Renewal. Working with the Manager for Academic Planning and collaborating with members of the Academic Systems and Processes Committee, I drew on the processes that had been worked on for the Framework for Informed Decision-Making (FID) led by my colleague, Kevin Henderson.
From that start and taking direction from several other colleagues and senior staff at NSCC, I negotiated a design that also called on research on quality processes of other institutions, ISO9000, and best practices within the college itself. The result is the PRF (Program Review and Renewal Framework), which forms the basis for the college's current program review and renewal process. The work continues on this as there are many gaps and much to learn from its implementation, but I am proud of having a key position in the development of this critical document and process.
