Activities - To achieve this competency, I:
- Completed Business Diploma from Memorial University
- Will complete the requirements for the Certified Management Consultant credential awarded by the Canadian Association of Management Consultants (CAMC) in November 2005
- Operated my own businesses since 1988
- Taught Business Strategy courses at three Atlantic Canada Community Colleges
- Acted as Senior Operations Manager for Greenrock Technologies and Marshall Media Group
- Participate as a member of the School management team by providing leadership in developing policies and strategies
- Support the development of academic policies and procedures for the School and College
- Support the Dean of the School of Applied Arts and New Media in reaching specified goals and objectives
- Represent the School in College and community organizations
- Provide input into budgetary considerations such as new program development and delivery, program suspensions, and workload analysis
- Lead and support management structures such as steering committees and the school programs committee
Outcomes - As a result of this learning I can:
- Articulate key concepts of business management
- Describe my own and others' management styles and identify the benefits and challenges of various styles
- Explain the concept of servant leadership
- Demonstrate qualities of servant leadership
